Understanding the Buddha, the Sangha and the Dharma |
|
What did the Buddha really teach so long ago and does his teaching have any relevance for people in the modern world? In this section you will find teachings on the essential aspect of the Buddha's message, namely that we are all trapped in a distorted view of life, called dualistic thinking. You will learn how to overcome this "veil of Maya" and achieve a non-dualistic approach to life. This teaching could be considered the very foundation for spiritual growth as it is truly dualistic thinking that holds back your progress toward a higher state of consciousness. Many spiritual students have been lured into following a path that promises them "automatic" results by following and practicing certain teachings and rituals. Yet the true path of the Buddha is an inner path, where you are the one who must make the conscious choices that form the only key to progress. Yet
for you to make better choices, you must change your basic perception
of life, for your previous choices were the products of your current
perception. What you see is what you get, so unless you change the
way you "see," how can you change what you get?
