Question: This is related to the previous question about disease. How is it that some people with terminal diseases are able to treat them naturally at all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, and others, who perhaps have a karmic cause for their disease, are not able to get better no matter what they do?

NOTE:
This answer was given on May 19, 2007, during the Shangra-la conference in Ireland.

Answer from
Mother Mary:

There are two main reasons for this, my beloved hearts. If you cannot heal a disease in any way, it can be because there is an underlying psychological condition that has not been resolved—because you have not yet seen what you need to see. You have not yet made the decision you need to make in order to rise above the condition.

But as Jesus has also explained, there can be some times where you choose to take on a physical disease to pay back a karma for the remainder of that lifetime. Sometimes people even take on disease in order to pay back humankind's karma beyond their personal karma. And thus, the disease will not be healed because in your higher being you know that the disease is not meant to be healed. At least not until there has been resolution or that all the karma is paid back.

And so, again, I realize that it is always difficult to suffer from a physical disease. Nevertheless, the teachings of Jesus given earlier do apply here. Once you accept the condition and decide to make the best of it, then your suffering can be diminished greatly. And my beloved, I must tell you that there are some times when it is necessary to accept a physical disease before you can actually have it healed. In other words, there are some people who fight a disease with the will and with outer means – whether it be natural healing or traditional medicine – because they have actually not accepted the condition as being caused by their own consciousness.

And therefore, they have not started the process of re-evaluating their life and beliefs. They have not truly looked in the mirror. So they are simply trying to remove the outer symptoms rather than looking for the spiritual cause. And so, if the disease is the result of karma, well then you need to learn the lesson, you need to learn from that karma before the disease can be healed.

There are also those who take on a disease in order to force themselves to learn a certain lesson. And again, you can then have the situation where your outer mind rebels against the disease and seeks to heal it by any means available, whereas your higher being actually does not want the disease healed until your outer mind has learned the lesson.

And so the harder you fight against the disease, the more it will persist. Whereas if people would surrender and simply say, "What do I have to learn from this disease? Beloved Christ self, beloved Mother Mary, show me what I have to learn from this disease. Show me what I need to change in order to move beyond the state of consciousness that precipitated this physical disease."
