Question: Beloved Jesus,
Would you please comment on the validity of the teachings of Ramtha that have been channeled through J. Z. Knight over the past several years? Ramtha recommends that his students drink red wine during their lessons because it heightens/enhances their spiritual experience. Would you please comment on this? In addition, he does not recommend that students enter into a guru/chela relationship because of the chela’s dependency on the guru. One comment that a student of Ramtha made is that he has only ever had one embodiment. Is that possible?

Answer from Jesus:

There is a great number of nonmaterial beings who are willing to communicate with humankind. I have explained elsewhere that the human mind has the ability to act as a radio receiver. In this day and age, more and more people are developing the ability to turn the dial of consciousness and tune in to beings beyond the material octave.

The great need of the hour is Christ discernment so that people can avoid tuning in to beings who have not yet ascended to heaven. There are a great number of such beings, and many of them are eager to communicate with people. Yet the very fact that they have not yet ascended should make people wonder why these beings have not passed the final initiation on the path. It is wise to consider that if you want to travel to a certain destination, it is best to be guided by a being who has completed the journey and knows the way.

Let me state clearly that no member of the Ascended Host would ever recommend that you mix alcohol and spiritual exercises. Alcohol might indeed enhance a person’s experience, but that experience will not be a spiritual experience. I am sadly aware that numerous people believe they have attained spiritual experiences as a result of taking drugs. Regardless of how real such experiences might seem, this is a very dangerous illusion.

The human brain can indeed, as a result of chemical stimulation, produce experiences that bear a resemblance to spiritual experiences. Yet the difference between such experiences and the real thing is like the difference between watching a movie about flying and actually being in an airplane.

Let me also assure you that no member of the Ascended Host will take over a person’s body and cause that person to speak with a different voice. We can indeed speak through human beings and in so doing we might project a part of our being into the person’s body and mind. Yet we do not cause the person to become unaware of what is being said because that would be a violation of the person’s free will.

Concerning the idea that people should not enter into a guru/chela relationship, there is some validity to the idea that this can cause certain students to become co-dependent upon the guru. In the physical octave, everything is a two-edged sword. The Bible is given to people as a means to their spiritual progress. Yet millions of people cling to a specific interpretation of the Bible and therefore abort or slow down their growth. It is an inescapable fact of life that the tools, which the Ascended Host give as a means to people’s liberation, have the potential to become a blind alley that cause people to become stuck at a certain level instead of taking the next step on the path.

Many students develop dependency upon a guru. This is never good. However, if the student has a true guru, the guru will always seek to help the student overcome this dependency. Therefore, I disagree with the general statement that one should never enter into a guru/chela relationship. The fact that a tool can be misused does not mean that one should abandon the tool. Imagine that a helicopter has come to rescue you. The helicopter has landed on the roof of a nearby building. However, to get to the roof, you have to climb the stairs. While it is true that you should not become co-dependent upon the stairs, it is equally true that if you do not climb the stairs, you cannot make it to the roof. The guru/chela relationship is indeed a viable way to attain swift spiritual growth, and for many people it will be extremely difficult to attain that growth without an inner or an outer guru.

The key to overcoming the problem of dependency is to realize that the outer guru is simply a tool for helping you attain conscious contact with the inner guru, namely your Christ self.

It is possible to have only one embodiment on Earth. Before the Fall, most spiritual beings had only one lifetime on Earth before ascending. After the Fall, certain rebellious souls were given the opportunity to embody on Earth. Some of them misused their opportunity in such a way that they have bound themselves to the lower realms, and therefore they were unable to return to physical embodiment. When I descended to hell after my crucifixion, part of the purpose was to attempt to reach such souls and help them get back on a positive path to growth.
