A step-by-step approach

A systematic approach to sharpening your intuition

If you are reading these words, you have already adopted the inner approach to knowledge, and you are using your intuition to some degree. You simply need to start using your intuition in a more conscious and systematic manner.

The process of receiving an answer from within has three steps:

  1. You must saturate your outer mind with the idea you are trying to understand. Study the idea until you build what is called “creative tension.”
  2. After the creative tension reaches a certain intensity, you must let go of the idea. Simply relax your mind and take it off the idea or problem.
  3. After you let go, keep part of your attention focused within, and listen for an answer.

To use intuition successfully, you must apply all three elements, and for many people this can take some practice. When faced with a difficult question, many people find it easy to build tension, but it is often stress rather than creative tension.

Many people find it difficult to let go of the question after the creative, or not so creative, tension has been achieved. However, letting go is the most important part of the process, and the reason is simple. When you build creative tension, you saturate your mind with the question until there is no longer any room for the answer to enter.

To receive the answer, you must let go of the question and allow your outer mind to become still so that the answer, which is already there in your higher mind, can surface in your conscious awareness. As long as you maintain the tension, the answer has no room to surface.

The key to better intuition is to consciously apply these steps:

  1. Start by letting your higher mind know about the idea that you want to understand.
  2. Build intensity to make sure that the question reaches your higher mind.
  3. Let go of the question with your outer mind so that your higher mind can formulate the answer.
  4. Listen for an answer coming from that higher mind.

The steps are simple: think, let go and listen.

A step-by-step approach
In the beginning, you might benefit from a step-by-step approach. As you encounter a new idea, on this site or elsewhere, do the following:

  1. Stop you outer mind from making a judgment about the idea. The intellect is always ready to judge everything and everybody. If a judgment has already been made, you must overrule it with your conscious mind. Simply make the decision that you will not accept the judgment, but will seek an answer from your higher mind. Neutralize the judgmental part of your mind by contemplating how an open mind is the key to progress.
  2. Decide to take an open-minded look at the idea. Apply a technique used by many scientists and ask yourself: “If this idea was true, could it possibly explain something that my present knowledge and beliefs cannot explain?” You are not trying to determine if the idea is true, you are simply considering the “explanatory power” of the idea.
  3. Decide to consider the idea from several angles. Focus on the idea until you feel that you have reached a certain intensity of concentration.
  4. When you feel that you have established creative tension, make the decision to let go of the idea and send it to your higher mind.
  5. Now send the idea to your higher mind, along with the question: “What is a better understanding of this idea?” Don’t ask if the idea is true or false, and don’t ask what to do in a particular situation. Your higher mind is not your inner “psychic hot line.” Simply ask for a higher understanding so that your conscious mind can make better choices.
  6. Let go, relax and listen for an answer.

If you do not receive an answer, make a firm decision to move on without making an outer judgment about the idea. Simply remain open to the possibility that your higher mind might answer you later. While they are new to this technique, many people find that they don’t get an immediate answer. Instead, the answer comes later, often when they least expect it.

Make a decision that you will allow the process to run its course and that you will keep practicing. You will gradually become more comfortable with the technique, and this is the key to getting answers. To get answers you must make room in your conscious mind for the answer to enter. The answer is already there in your higher mind. You simply need to invite it into your conscious mind.

In today’s world, many people are so caught up in a stressful daily routine that there is no opening for new ideas. Take a “time out” and listen to the silence inside yourself. That silence can give you many golden answers.

If you want a more detailed technique for getting answers from within, use the technique presented by Jesus on the Atunement page.
