32.
Mind over matter because matter is mind
NOTE:
This is an excerpt from the book The
Least You Should Know About Life.
Your outer circumstances are effects of causes that take place in the
realm of energy, which is the realm of mind or thought. The logical
consequence is that mind over matter is a real possibility because matter
is made from the same “stuff” as mind, and your mind has
the power to manipulate that stuff. Theoretically this gives you an
unlimited potential for shaping your material circumstances with your
mind. In fact, some self-help gurus will tell you that you can manifest
perfect health and unlimited riches—if only you pay them to reveal
their secret system.
In reality, your potential for changing your circumstances is not unlimited
because there are certain factors over which your mind does not have
power. However, this is not necessarily a drawback. By recognizing your
limitations and making peace with them, you can learn to use them to
enrich your life. Some of these limitations are:
-
You are a co-creator
with God. Your conscious self is right now inhabiting a physical
body on planet Earth. You did not create the Earth, so your mind
does not – currently – have the creative power to change
the basic design of this planet. It is to your advantage to accept
this fact and focus on making the best of your situation within
the basic design of the Earth.
-
The basic design of the
Earth was determined by spiritual Beings. However, since human beings
descended into a lower state of consciousness, humankind has collectively
created certain imbalanced conditions. These conditions will obviously
affect you, and you do not have the power in your personal mind
to change – in the short term – what was created through
the collective mind. Thus, you must accept that there are currently
certain limiting conditions on this planet that you cannot necessarily
change or escape completely. However, by using the power of your
own mind, you can minimize the effect these conditions have on your
life.
-
You are not the only
co-creator living on this planet, and the Earth was not created
exclusively to serve your needs. It was created as a scientific
laboratory in which many co-creators are meant to learn how to exercise
their creative abilities without destroying themselves, each other
or the planet. Because all co-creators were given free will, there
is a potential that groups of people or individuals can self-destruct.
Yet to minimize this risk, the Creator has defined certain laws
that guide your creative efforts. If you go against these laws,
you will limit your creative powers and create effects that lead
to suffering. By following these laws, you create an upward spiral
that expands your creative powers and generates positive effects
for yourself and others. Thus, it is to your advantage to co-create
within the framework of God’s laws (the major laws will be
described later).
- In many situations, the
outcome is not determined exclusively by you but also by one or more
other persons. Thus, even if you purify your own mind from all negative
elements, the minds of other people can still interfere negatively
with the outcome of the situation. This gives you two options. You
can spend your entire life trying to control others, but this will
only lead to suffering for everyone. Or you can determine to respect
that other people have free will and then work on your own mind so
you minimize the negative impact that other people’s choices
have on your life.
These are some of the major
limitations that impact your creative expression. However, there is
one more limitation that must be taken into account if you are to avoid
frustration or the feeling that you have been the victim of empty promises.
