17. Who are you and why are you here?

NOTE: This is an excerpt from the book The Least You Should Know About Life.

It is now possible to give a brief answer to two of the fundamental questions of life, namely, “Who are you” and “Why are you here?” These answers will be explained in more detail later in the book. There are two facts upon which to base these answers:

  • Quantum physics has proven that the human mind has the capacity to interact with the most fundamental level of matter. This means that your mind has the capacity to be a part of the process that brings spiritual energy into the material realm and causes it to take on specific form. You have the capacity of mind to formulate a mental image and superimpose it upon the Ma-ter Light, causing the light to take on physical form.

  • Genesis explains that God created human beings in his own image and after his own likeness. They were then told to multiply and have dominion over the Earth. Most other religions contain similar ideas.
The conclusion is that you are designed to be a co-creator with God. You have essentially the same creative abilities as God, only you do not have the same creative power as God. The difference is in quantity, not in quality.

God defined the spiritual and physical laws and God’s representatives used them to create planet Earth. Yet the creation of the Earth was not completed by the spiritual Beings. Other spiritual beings were then sent to Earth to take on human bodies and multiply their creative powers, using them to take dominion over the material realm. By attaining the dominion of mind over matter, these co-creators could then finish the creative work begun by God and God’s representatives in the spiritual realm.

The Earth is a foundation upon which co-creators in human bodies can collectively build anything they want. This can answer another fundamental question of life, namely why there is so much suffering on Earth. Did God create this suffering and does that mean a supposedly good and loving God wants human beings to suffer? The answer is that God did not create human suffering—human beings did.

Most spiritual teachings contain the concept that human beings have fallen or descended into a lower state than the state in which they were created. The Bible tells the story of the Garden of Eden and the Fall of Man. This symbolizes that most human beings have forgotten their spiritual origin and the purpose for which they came to Earth. They have also forgotten their creative powers and how to use them consciously. As explained earlier, this has caused people to make unconscious choices which has created a downward spiral that leads to increasing suffering.

Over a long period of time, human beings have used their creative powers to collectively create a downward spiral on planet Earth, and this is the true origin of human suffering. On a personal level, this also explains why you might be facing limiting circumstances and why you seem powerless to change them. The reason is that you have created these circumstances without realizing what you were doing. You have been using your creative faculties in an unconscious way.

The good news is that by coming to understand your creative faculties, you can reverse the downward spiral. You can begin to use your creative faculties in a way that will produce an upward spiral that leads to better outer circumstances. However, in order to do this, you must first become more aware of the inner circumstances of your own psyche. You must understand who you are and how your mind works, so that you can take command over your own mind. You can then use the creative power of your mind to take command over your life circumstances. Only then will you fulfill the role in the cosmic drama for which you were designed, namely as a conscious co-creator who has dominion over the Earth—meaning the material realm.
